How do I set up online payments through PetPocketbook?

To make it easy for your clients to pay for services, PetPocketbook has partnered with Stripe to support online payments via credit/debit card and ACH bank transfers. The best part is you don’t have to lose any money to processing fees to get paid through our platform!

Choose the online payment methods that you’d like to accept

To accept online payments, you’ll first need to choose whether you’d like to accept just credit/debit cards, or if you'd also like to give pet parents the option to pay by ACH bank transfer. Since you won’t be incurring any processing fees for these payments, the only difference between card and ACH for you is how quickly you get paid.

⚠️ Please note that ACH bank transfer is currently only available in the U.S.

To select which ePayment methods you would like to accept, go to the Settings page from your main navigation and tap into the Client billing tab. In the payment methods accepted section, make your selection using the ePayments accepted dropdown.

Input your tax ID

Depending on your local tax reporting requirements, PetPocketbook may be obligated to report the amount in payments that you collect online each year through our platform (i.e. via credit/debit card and/or ACH bank transfer), which is why we need your taxpayer ID.

United States

The tax ID as a registered business in the U.S. is a 9-digit Employer ID Number also called an EIN. If you do not have an EIN but need to attain one, you can apply for one with the IRS. That said, not every business needs to have an EIN. If you are a sole proprietor with no employees, you can use your personal social security number (SSN) as your tax ID, since you and your business are the same for tax purposes.

Canada

Your tax ID as an incorporated business in Canada is a 9-digit Business Number (BN). If you are a sole proprietor operating under your own legal name with no employees and are not required to collect GST/HST, you can use your individual tax number, also known as your Social Insurance Number (SIN), as your tax ID.

Australia

Your tax ID is your 11-digit Australian Business Number (ABN). After your account has been set up, we may need to follow up with you for additional information about you and your legal entity for account verification.

Connect your bank account

Finally, link up the bank account where you’d like to receive payouts for any payments that your clients make through PetPocketbook.

💡 To complete this step, you’ll need your online banking credentials and/or your bank account and routing numbers. To verify the owner on the bank account, we’ll also need:

  • Account owner name (here you’ll be able to choose from all users in your PetPocketbook account set with ‘Owner’ level access)
  • Account owner birthday
  • Last 4 digits of the account owner’s SSN (for U.S. businesses only)

When you’re done with all of the above, don’t forget to hit the save button! Et voila! 🎉
