Do you have GPS Tracking?

Yes! However, this feature does behave differently, depending on how you are using PetPocketbook:

  • If you have access to our exclusive beta app, you'll be able to track the full route of a walk or hike.
  • If you are using our mobile web app that's saved onto your homescreen, we'll automatically drop a GPS locator pin from you and your mobile device when they're at an appointment.

How do I turn on GPS tracking?

To turn on the GPS locator feature in your account, go to the "Service & Pricing" tab on your Settings page. Hover over either the 'dog walking' or 'dog hiking' category and tap on the gear icon in the top right to access your Category Settings.

Next, go to your Accountability tab and turn on the GPS toggle for the category that you'd like to have GPS tracking for. You will need to turn this feature on for dog walking and dog hiking services individually if you want to use them for both.

⚠️ The first time that you and your team each start or complete an appointment after this feature is turned on, you'll be prompted with the following alert granting us permission to access your location. You and your team will need to allow our site to track your location on your device for this feature to work.

What does the GPS tracking feature do?

It depends on whether you require your team to check in and out of each appointment.

If you require your team to check in and out of each appointment...

...a GPS locator pin gets dropped when they tap the “start” and “finish” buttons for an appointment. This will make it easier for you to ensure that your staff arrived and departed from the client’s home like they were supposed to. Please note that because you're starting and ending the appointment in the same place, it is possible for the markers to completely overlap, resulting in a singular marker appearing on the map instead of two.

If for some reason you or your staff forgot to hit the start button while at a client’s location, you can still mark appointments complete later to let your clients know that you were there and to include the appointment for billing. In that case, the report cards for those appointments will not include any timestamps or location information.
If you do not require your team to start and end each appointment in PetPocketbook...
... a pin will be dropped at the location where you and your team mark an appointment complete as long as it is within 2 hours of a scheduled appointment window. In this case, your appointment report cards will not include time stamps but will include a map with the GPS location where you marked the appointment complete.
