Google Calendar integration FAQs
What does the integration do?
Automatically sync your appointments in PetPocketbook to Google Calendar. Connect this integration to:
- See your work schedule alongside your personal events in Google Calendar
- Customize event notifications through Google Calendar for your PetPocketbook appointments
How does it work?
Once connected, our one-way integration creates a read-only PetPocketbook calendar in your Google Calendar. By default, this calendar will be titled “PetPocketbook - Your Company Name.”
All appointments assigned to you in PetPocketbook will populate in your Google Calendar starting with events on the date that you set up the integration. Our system will automatically attempt to push any updates from your PetPocketbook schedule into Google Calendar in real-time.
Some bark-worthy info to consider 🐶
- If you add a walk for two dogs in the same family in PetPocketbook, a single event will appear in your Google Calendar.
- If you offer hikes, playgroups, or any pack-oriented services, dogs within a pack in your PetPocketbook schedule will show up as separate events in Google Calendar. Like most scheduling apps, Google Calendar does not support the concept of packs; so we unfortunately can't apply your designated pack order in PetPocketbook to events in Google Calendar.
- Appointments re-assigned to another team member will disappear from Google Calendar just like it does in PetPocketbook.
- Appointments canceled in PetPocketbook will remain in Google Calendar with a “Canceled” label in front of the event name
If you disconnect the integration or cancel your PetPocketbook subscription, any events — past or future — created by our integration will be removed from your Google Calendar.
What information will be passed into Google Calendar?
- Your appointments. A calendar event is created in Google Calendar for each appointment on your schedule in PetPocketbook. Visits with families that have multiple pets will show up as a single event. Recurring schedules will be created approximately one year out. Any one-time appointments (no matter how far off into the future) will be added in real-time as they are assigned to you in PetPocketbook.
- Basic appointment details. For each appointment, this includes:
- event title:
- name of the pet(s) receiving care
- last name of the primary contact for the client family
- service name and duration
- event location: client's physical address
- event time: appointment time as shown on your schedule in PetPocketbook through estimated end time based on service duration. If you have arrival windows set up, they will show up at the top of your event notes.
- event notes: link within each event to the corresponding appointment in PetPocketbook. This way, additional details — such as sensitive information like access instructions and internal notes — can be easily accessed directly in PetPocketbook.
What happens when I remove a staff member? Will they still see my clients' appointments in their Google Calendar?
When you deactivate a staff or remove them from your account, their Google Calendar integration is immediately disconnected. This means they will lose access to the PetPocketbook calendar that we shared with their Google Calendar for your business. When that happens, they will no longer be able to see any of the events that were added to that calendar.
