How to block off days when I'm not available
You can update your calendar status to reflect days when you're unavailable, so pet parents can't submit requests during those times. Whether you’re going on vacation, taking a personal day, or just need to pause scheduling for a holiday, this gives you peace of mind that no new appointments will sneak onto your calendar. ✨

What setting your availability status does
Changing the calendar status for a specific day applies to everyone in your business and updates how appointments can be scheduled.
There are three options to choose from:
- Available: You're open and taking client requests as usual. This is the default for any given day.
- Assign only: Pet parents can’t submit new requests for this date, but you and your team can still manually assign visits. This is great for days when you're fully booked or mostly off but want flexibility.
- Block off: Completely removes the day from scheduling. This is ideal for holidays or days when you're fully closed for business. Here's what will happen:
- Neither you nor your team will be able to add appointments for this day.
- When you block off a date, we'll automatically cancel any existing appointments on your calendar (including those of your team) and decline any pending requests for that day.
- Affected pet parents will be notified by email (and by push notification if they have our mobile app). You’ll also have the option to add a note, which will be added to the notification emails and automatically shared in your message thread with each family.
- If you create or modify a repeating appointment, and one of the dates falls on a day you've blocked off in the future, we'll automatically skip it so you won't need to delete it manually. For example, if you set up a weekly walk, and one of those walks falls on a holiday you've already blocked off, we won't add it to your calendar.
💡 You can easily see which dates are assign only or blocked off from your monthly calendar at the top right of your schedule too. "Assign only" dates are shown in gray vs. "blocked off" dates are in light coral.

How to update your calendar status
- Go to the date that you'd like to update in the Schedule tab.
- Tap the current status label (e.g., "available") in the top right of your schedule
- Choose your preferred setting: available, assign only, or block off
The status you select will appear in the list, calendar, and map views of your schedule, so it’s easy to see what’s blocked or limited at a glance.
👉 You'll only be able to change the status of a particular date when viewing the schedule for just that day. When viewing an individual staff member's calendar in weekly view, blocked off dates appear grayed out, so you can quickly spot days when no appointments can be scheduled!
Need to make a change?
You can update your calendar status anytime by selecting the date again and choosing a different option. 😎
