How to sync to iCal
To sync your appointments to your iCloud calendar, Apple requires that you first create an app-specific password for PetPocketbook. This allows you to log in to your Apple account within our app so that we can access your iCal to create and update events from your PetPocketbook schedule. You can learn more about app-specific passwords here.
Creating an app-specific password
⚠️ To generate and use app-specific passwords, your Apple Account must be protected with two-factor authentication.
Once generated, you will not be able to see the password again, so we'd recommend copying and pasting the password somewhere for temporary access until you successfully complete your iCal integration.
1. Navigate to your Apple account and click "Sign In" at https://account.apple.com/
2. Sign in to the Apple account associated with the iCloud calendar that you'd like to sync PetPocketbook to and follow on-screen instructions to complete two-factor authentication
3. Click "App-Specific Passwords" after signing in
4. Click "Generate an app-specific password" when prompted
5. Type in "PetPocketbook" and click "Create"
6. You'll be prompted to confirm your Apple ID password again to continue with generating an app-specific password for PetPocketbook
7. Once your app-specific password is generated, highlight the password with your cursor and copy (simultaneously press CMD + C after highlighting)
8. Return to the window where you have PetPocketbook open. Tap "proceed" and paste the app-specific password that you just copied into the password field after entering the same Apple ID email that you used to generate the password.
Connecting PetPocketbook to iCal
Once you've created your app-specific password and have copied it, you can connect to iCal through the integrations page in your account settings in PetPocketbook. When tapping connect, you'll be alerted about the app-specific password. Simply tap proceed, and you'll be prompted to login to your Apple account with your app-specific password. Then hit connect!
💡 Any time you change or reset your primary Apple Account password, all of your app-specific passwords are revoked automatically to protect the security of your account. You need to generate new app-specific passwords for any apps that you want to continue using.
